Had a slip,
trip or fall and wondering about compensation?
There are two
main types of accident outside the workplace:
Accidents in the street
Your local council
is responsible for keeping roads and pavements maintained and in
a reasonable condition. The council can only avoid blame if they
can prove that the street in question was inspected in accordance
with the relevant guidelines. The frequency they have to inspect
varies depending upon the location of the accident.
Accidents in other areas
If you enter
a public place e.g. a supermarket, bank etc, the owners of that
building have a duty to ensure that you are safe whilst on their
property. This includes ensuring that the building and fixtures
and fittings are in a good state of repair and that any hazards,
for example a spillage, are cleaned up so as not to cause an accident.

We
are experienced in pursuing cases for clients involved in accidents
on the road or at work, affected by industrial diseases such as Vibration
White Finger and Asbestosis or by stress, victims of criminal injuries
such as assault and those affected by medical negligence. We can also
bring claims against the Motor Insurers' Bureau, if you have been
injured by an uninsured or untraced driver. Most cases are settled
without proceeding to Court, and most claims are paid by insurance
companies on behalf of the opposing party. Criminal injury claims
can be made, under special legal rules, against the Criminal Injuries
Compensation Authority, a government body.
